the art of risk

Why real change needs your fear - and how to work with it

Why do we find it so difficult to make decisions?
Is it because some decisions are especially difficult? Or is it because of us?

In this short workshop, we explore uncertainty, hesitation, and what helps us move from avoidance to action.

As a mathematician and psychological consultant – shaped by different cultural contexts – I approach decision-making from three perspectives:

  • rational,

  • emotional,

  • and intercultural.

What can mathematics teach us about decision-making? How can we deal with the mixed emotions that often accompany important decisions? What role do language and culture play?

And, perhaps most importantly: How can we recognize and avoid the thinking traps that influence our decisions?

Duration: 90 minutes to 3 hours (depending on the scope of the practical part and individual agreement)

Highlights of the workshop:

  • Decision-making under uncertainty: When is a risk worth taking? Insights from psychology and mathematics.

  • Understanding risk-taking: The role of fear, language, and internal barriers.

  • Taking action with greater clarity: Practical tools, ways of thinking, and language that foster courage and action.
